Trinity Blood Raws: Acts 38-40
Trinity Blood Manga get!

[info]silent_psy shared Act. 38: The Great Escape. Scanned from volume 10 (thus the quality will be higher than the Asuka release).

My friend [info]fujitsubo scanned the following chapters from Asuka Magazine. ♥ Speaking of scans, did Act 38 ever have a color spread in the Asuka release? >>

Sister Monica Argento and Father Tres Iqus. Kiyo loves to show up the women's assets, yeah? The only ones who are dressed so far are Caterina and Kate.

Act. 39: A View To Kill

Sister Esther Blanchett, Lady Saint of István, and Himemiya Anthy Shahrzad al-Rahman, Countess of Babylon. OTP. Esther looks pretty aside of the mutant feet there. If I get a new layout, THIS image is the header.

Act. 40: The Postman Always Rings Twice.

Enjoy ♥

Random: I finally could watch the Sweeney Todd film. I can't compare it with a stage version because there's NONE here in Argentina. I enjoyed it, however. /lame review.

Her personality is Anthy's opposite, though. NOT THAT I MIND. I love Anthy, but I like Shahrzad because she's straightforward, sweet and spirited... and not crazy or racist like all the other Imperials seem to be. *g*

Her eyes are supposed to be mauve, no idea why they were colored green here either.

Anime and Manga are both adaptations of the novels. The main difference is the Anime mixed some RAM (Rage against the Moons) and ROM (Reborn on Mars. Esther's novels, she's not in RAM) and mixed them together, removing novels, including ROM IV (the raws I'm posting are the adaptation of this arc. Esther and Abel return from their journey of the Empire and stop in István where they find out Esther has been falsely canonized as Lady Saint for fighting Gyula. Shahrzad "The Merciful" Countess of Babylon and the Duke of Tigris Süleyman's niece is introduced and shakes Esther's world, giving an aim to her life). There were also changes of characterization, relationships, genders... (The important person Astaroth lost? Len? It's a woman, not a man), designs, etc.

Manga adapts only ROM and adds more humor and romance. Volume 2 and chapter 22 (if I recall correctly) are made up too.

In both cases they are less "dark" than the novel in which Esther Blanchett shows up as a terrorist leader willing to bomb and assassinate people for a rightous new István. She has a good sense of ethics, but she's neither out for revenge on her own (Anime) or pure and cute who won't kill a fly (Manga). Although Manga is currently characterizing Esther as more her novel self (resourceful, independent, badass, bad-tempered, smart, charismatic and leader like, etc) and addresses her terrorist past (that was almost absent in volume 1). Abel's also more a darker character, with huge passive-aggressive bouts and a sadistic streak (his past, as enemy of the world is more overt. Likewise Lilith's role as his lover and the force that opposed him and his siblings/savior of humanity).

Wow.
That's a lot of stuff.
I really like the Abel in the anime, but it makes sense that he's originally a darker character.
And the anime gave very little detail about Lilith, and only showed brief glimpses of her.

In sum:

Novel > Manga > Anime. ;p

I like my badass, leader like, violent and seemly bisexual!Esther of the Novels, kthx who DOES NOT cling to Abel. Abel/Esther is FAR better when is subtle (but Shahrzad/Esther is still hotter ;P).

Novel doesn't show up Lilith a lot, but her influence to the world after her death 800 years ago (in which Abel locked into her crypt mourning her ALL those centuries) is more explicit. She's Krsnik 04, the savior of humanity, leader of the Terran side of the war, and formerly prototype of the superhumans, chief of Health care in Mars Mission and Abel's beloved soulmate and lover.

I like Novel Abel/Esther (Anime wise, no thanks) but Shahrzad/Esther is way more... how to say? Balanced? They are each others perfect companion: equals.

Some spoilers. Highlight: Something that was never present in Abel's relationship and Esther's (or Esther's relationship with Ion either). Abel and Ion overprotect Esther and she has to give them an emotional balance, that's why Esther chooses to distance herself from them (she left Ion and tells Abel he should leave her after she's crowned Queen). With Shahrzad, however, Esther found a kindred soul with whom she can fight side to side. There's an unspoken balanced partnership (I should mention while there's hints here and there, none of the Esther pairings, except perhaps Dietrich/Esther in the beginning, are canon. I'm analyzing her relationship as potentially romantic as how she behaves as partner to Abel, to Ion and finally to Shahrzad). I wonder if Shahrzad wouldn't have died on Esther's arms (dramatic) what would have happened? Her death marked Esther against looking the Empire OR the Vatican as shiny examples of what she wanted to do. So she goes and BURIES Shahr and makes an oath to her to honor her sacrifice, her vision. Likely because Shahrzad was a beautiful person. Something Abel OR Ion aren't. They are good people, but not beautiful inside and outside like "Shahr" as Esther calls her is (and the note of intimacy, Esther's never name basis with Ion OR Abel, she's formal with them. With Shahr? Not only she's not formal but also makes up a petname). Dietrich LOOKS like a beautiful person, but he isn't either. Her influence in Esther's life, despite appearing less? Was the deepest.

Notice all that Anime crap of "building a world in which humans and vampires could live in" didn't come to Esther UNTIL she meets Shahrzad, a year after her journey. Her development is so much balanced.

Now I do like Novel Abel/Esther too, for the sake of Abel who used to HATE humans so deeply finally finding love again with a human. And Esther who HATED those who weren't humans doing the same. The big black spot is Abel's emotional retardness, guilt complex and of course Lilith shadow. While the first two are interesting, the third one makes dislike the couple a bit in the sense Abel's not seeing Esther for Esther. He's seeing Esther's hair of the same shade of Lilith's. He's seeing Esther will vouch what Lilith used to support. He'll see that she'll lead the descendants of Lilith's people (the Methuselah of Albion). While Esther and Lilith have two different and opposites personalities, Abel's NOT able to see beyond this.

Esther's too independant and strong willed to stand that. She couldn't even live in the shadow of Abel and proposed to be apart (even if she does care for him), she wouldn't accept be in the shadows of a dead woman, even if she was the Holy Lady, the Dark Saint.

As for Abel/Lilith. I love it too. But I love it in the past when Abel was a bad boy (with punk hair and all) while Lilith was a heroine. Current Abel bores me to tears except by his sadist streak. I prefer Mars Project&Dark Ages!Abel.

I'm not fond of the Anime because they turned Esther into pathetic and completely useless wallflower. She's a mature, charismatic young woman with a strong personality. Manga and Anime wise... it doesn't seem the case. Except for the last chapters of the Manga. :D

Or simply deprive Tres of his personality. Wtf were the strong Tres > Caterina devotion?

Hahah! Different tastes. Abel and Hugue are my least favorite characters. *g*

I really thought that Vaclav/Caterina would take off. She seemed to rely a lot on him in the anime, and especially near the end they shared a few tender moments.

Nothing like she really is in the Novels. A strong, soldier with a streak for charisma and leadership since her introduction. You know that Esther turns into an Elizabeth I/Virgin Queen figure and MAKES sense here.

Funny considering in the Novel Vaclav BETRAYS her and kidnaps Alessandro. Paula kills him.

But no, in the novels (and maybe the Manga) Caterina has romantic feelings for Abel (they are overt and spelled out). Tres is completely devoted to her and can't STAND living without the memories of the times they spent together. He's kind of stalker-ish, with the emotion inhibitor and all. He doesn't care if Esther/Abel/EVERYONE die if they threaten Caterina in any sense.

Beautiful Frontpiece of Gunmetal Hound Side B. This adapts one of Tres-backstory shorts. He's an allegory of Pinocchio. His creator was even called Gepetto (Garibaldi was his surname).

Wow. then I definitely like the anime!Vaclav.
Paula scared me a little. Pretty cool, though.
See, I always thought Caterina has a thing for Abel, but it was much more subtle in the show. Which is fine I suppose.
oh, Tres. he makes me lawl with his robot-ness.

I fancy the darker scope of Caterina's emotions for Abel, gives her depth, how her jealousy and deadly disease makes her do fatal mistakes.

Tres' not a robot. He has artificial and organic limbs, he's a killer doll, a cyborg. Originally, he was a man but was trained to be a machine (he was from a cloning experiment). He could return to be human, he even has emotions but he represses them automatically. Caterina, when she was 19, and saved Tres from being destroyed, offered him the chance to be human. He denied and replied he was "created/born" to be a machine, he would live if he becomes HER property. Caterina agrees and tells him, from now on, everything he is, should be hers, therefore without her permission, he isn't ALLOWED to die/be destroyed/damaged. Since then, Tres only has a purpose: be Caterina's gun. His inhibitor was once canceled, and surprise, he gets angry at the sole insulting comment of his memories/data about her.

It's pretty obvious he has feelings for her.

Awww.
Tres is so cool. If not a bit obsessive.
Tell me, what happens with Noelle in the manga/novels?
In the anime, I didn't even realize she had died because it happened so suddenly (in one of those situations they probably could've gotten her out of ;[).

Noelle doesn't appear in the Manga. Remember I told you Anime mixed RAM and ROM? Manga adapts ROM alone and Noelle dies back in RAM (set years before ROM - Caterina is 24 in the beginning of RAM and 26 when the Star of Sorrow incident which is ROM I happens) likewise Havel. Neither she nor Havel canonically meet Esther Blanchett.

Noelle, novel wise, was an ex-executive Ax agent (Esther was never in the special executive branch like Abel or Tres or Kate, hence the lack of a code name) who has quit before she's partnered as Abel's secretary of the lower branches (like Esther is, not really Abel's partner, but subordinate) during the Silent Mission incident. She dies there, crushed by the buildings when Barcelona falls. Noelle had been infatuated with Abel Nightroad, but due to her power, she could see the darkness he hid (TM) and became so scared of it, she left the executive branch. In the SN incident, Noelle confessed she felt remorseful to have not been strong enough to accept Abel's dark side and love him anyway.

Interesting stuff. I have to admit that I watched the anime series first. That was down to the avalibility here in the UK. So I liked the anime series alot as it introduced me to the story. Now that I'm reading the novel and the manga I'm now wishing it had more of the adult humour that was in the novel and more of the darker stuff of the manga.

I do like stuff to be dark (but not horror) so I did love Sweeney Todd. So reading the novels I did wish that the anime kept the gothic feel. I didn't liek anime Esther. She seemed to wet and pathetic. Now that I've seen what kinda character she is in the novels I would like to read more about her. I intriged by the relationship between her and Shahrzad.

Great images. I found the bottom one very nice indeed (I'm a bi-sexual female so no surprises there). Thanks for posting them.

I know, right? :( But it didn't. Such a waste.

Novel!Esther is interesting and she gets more interesting. She doesn't fall in the "Abel-focus" trap Anime and Manga Esther did, novel wise. She isn't DEVASTATED that Abel didn't give her information of his past, she accepted it like a mature soldier. She was intrigued NOT for him but the glimpse of Krsnik she saw in ROM I. Her relationship with Shahrzad is one of the highlights for there's so rare girl/girl bonding that is outside shoujo magical girls group or best childhood friends. Most is girl/boy or boy/boy (speaking of platonic relationships not romantic).

By bisexual I mean that Esther shows attraction to women as well as men (she doesn't have a romantic relationship with any). So she thinks Caterina IS attractive as well as Dietrich. ;)

I'm happy for the bisexual stuff to appear as very few stories show it. Its either Het, Yuri or yaoi. I feel that bisexual characters are too few so this relationship btween Esther and Shahrzad to me is a plus. Even though its pruely a platonic relationship.
